Single Point Load Cells

Single point load cells attach to an oblong shaped element. The load cell is supported at one end and the force is applied at the opposite end. Mounting details differ from model to model.

The design is commonly used is platform applications. The design is great because force can be accurately measured with a quoted area.

For example: the 1022 load cell will measure to an accuracy of 0.02% with a 350mm square foot print, (the load cell is mounted central to this square).

To be aware of:

  1. The fixtures and fittings must remain rigid / strong enough for the measurement. If they are not, the forces will be lost in the fittings and not transmitted through the load cell. The accuracy will be lost.
  2. Be aware of how the force and re-acting force is applied to the load cell. Refer to the sketch: page 2 bottom right hand side of PCM datasheets.
