Tension Load Cells

Before choosing tension load cells to suit your application there are key points to be aware of:

  1. How is the force going to be applied to the load cell? This is how you maximise your accuracy in the system.
  2. Misaligned forces can damage certain designs of load cells.
  3. Be aware of how the force is to be applied to the load cell. Refer to the ‘Loading Mode’ sketch on the product datasheets.
What is tension?

Tension occurs when a tensile stress is applied to a material resulting in it stretching. This leads to an increase in length, nominally <0.5mm.
