The PLC is a bi-directional pancake load cell designed for monitoring tension and compression. Its shear web design principle permits a degree of misaligned loading with minimal effect on the load cell output. The load cell is designed for test rig applications where static and dynamic measurement are required.
The design of the PLC can be modified; for example, typical design variations include optimisation for high temperature, submersion and even to suit hazardous areas (non-ATEX).
An alternative to the PLC is the TC4 pancake load cell which has a similar design and is generally considered a more ‘off the shelf’ product.
